Plymouth Expedition, 13-15th June 2016

Author: Gregor C. Friday the 13th, a date that will now be remembered as the “curse of the plankton bloom”. Nevertheless, OUUEG divers planned a trip on that day and promptly suffered a little from the curse: with unfortunately two divers having to pull out last minute and a mishap Read more…

Plymouth Expedition, 20–21st June 2015

With the summer finally arriving, and reports of there being a strange thing called “the sea” into which one could dive, an expeditionary force was assembled. After a couple of minor adjustments to line-up the intrepid adventurers set off to Plymouth to see what this whole salt-watery-diving-thing was all about… Read more…

Plymouth Expedition, 26-28th August 2014

Author: Ed We arose with the cock-crow, impatient to fulfil the purpose for which we had travelled so far. Upon arriving at the harbour we assembled our kit with an almost military efficiency and, whilst jeering at some unfortunates desperately bailing out their stricken vessel, took to sea. The first Read more…

Plymouth Summer Expedition, August 2011

Dates: summer 2011, Author: Margreit It all started of with a small group of people going down on Friday, with many more joining during the week. On Saturday Horse turned out to be in urgent need of (more) TLC, as it would only go slow and extremely slow as it was. Read more…

OUUEG helps research by hunting for sea urchins in Plymouth, May 2010

Dates: May 2010, Author: Luke This trip saw us heading down to Plymouth with a rather unusual mission – looking for sea urchins.  While we’re normally on the lookout for anything tasty while diving, I must admit that spiky echinoderms are not usually on the list.  Sea urchins eggs are Read more…

About OUUEG

The Oxford University Underwater Exploration Group (OUUEG) is a company of around 70 divers – students, staff and alumni of the University of Oxford, as well as people not affiliated with the University. The club was founded in 1963 and is today a recognised University Sports club of the University of Oxford and an official branch of the British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC).

OUUEG has a lot of active members and offers diving that suits everyone, from beginners to more experienced divers. We teach diving and skills development courses at all levels, organise weekend trips throughout the diving season, as well as longer expeditions to more distant parts of the UK and abroad. New members are always welcome – you don’t need to be at the University to join us!
